How to Use JustLFG

Everything you need to run events your community actually shows up to — the full command list plus the details worth knowing.

Getting started

Three quick steps and you're live:

• Add the bot — authorize JustLFG for your server. It comes with the permissions it needs (send messages, embed links, and — for the optional features — manage roles, create invite, and manage channels). If you skip any, you can always re-add it later with the same link to top them up.
• Set your timezone — run /lfg timezone and pick your zone (start typing a city). This makes a time like 7pm read as your 7pm. Every member should do this once.
• Run /lfg create — post your first event. Type /lfg create on its own to open the guided builder, or fill it inline: /lfg create what:Vault of Glass when:Friday 8pm.

Creating events

An event needs just a what and a when. JustLFG posts it with Going / Maybe / Can't buttons that update live, shows the time in every member's own timezone, and DMs everyone who's Going a reminder before it starts.

The when field understands natural phrases:

Good to know

• Set your timezone first. Run /lfg timezone once so the times you type are read in your zone. Times are always displayed in each viewer's own local time — but the time you type is read in the zone you set — or, if you haven't, your server's default (/lfgconfig timezone), falling back to UTC. Handy phrases: Tuesday means the coming Tuesday (today if it's Tuesday), next Tuesday jumps a week, and tonight works too.
• Waitlists & plus-ones. Set a cap and overflow rolls to a waitlist, promoted automatically when a spot frees up (with a DM). Bringing people? Use the ➕ / ➖ Guest buttons on the post — guests count toward the cap, and your whole party is confirmed or waitlisted together, never split.
• Reminders & change alerts. Anyone marked Going gets DM reminders before the event (by default a day before, then 60 min, 15 min, and at start — admins can change the schedule with /lfgconfig reminders), plus a DM if the event is cancelled or its time is moved — so nobody shows up to a stale plan.
• RSVP notes. Hit 📝 Note on a post to add a short note to your RSVP (e.g. "can only stay till 9") — notes show in a compact list on the event.
• Role slots (comps). Add roles:Tank:2, DPS:3, Healer:1 and the event becomes a comp — each role has its own count, and hitting Going lets people pick a role (full roles are flagged). Great for raids and structured groups.
• Notify me. Event full? Hit 🔔 Notify me to get a DM if a spot opens — without having to commit to the waitlist.
• Attendance & reliability. After an event runs, the host can hit ⚙️ Manage → ✅ Mark attendance to record who showed. That feeds a per-member show-rate anyone can check with /lfg reliability, and the server totals in /lfg stats.
• Signup questions. Add question: when you create an event to ask everyone who's Going something ("Your rank?", "Which class?") — they answer with the 📝 Note button, and the answers gather on the post.
• Reminder controls. Don't want reminder DMs? /lfg reminders mute:true turns yours off (mute:false turns them back on).
• End time & voice. Add ends: to show when an event wraps, and voice: to put a 🔊 Join voice link to an existing channel right on the post.
• Voice on demand. Every event post has a 🔊 Voice button. Before the event starts it just says when voice opens; once it starts, the first tap spins up a temporary voice channel and everyone else gets the link — removed automatically after the event, so no empty channels pile up.
• Close signups early. In the builder, 🔒 Close signups locks RSVPs a set time before start — until start (the default), or 1h / 3h / 1d before — for when you need a firm headcount ahead of time.
• Announce-ping. Add ping:@role on /lfg create — or pick a role in the guided builder — to @-mention it once when the event is posted (e.g. an @LFG role people opt into).
• Add to calendar. Every event has an .ics link members can drop into their own calendar — and if you turn on the public page (/lfgconfig publicpage), the server gets a subscribable calendar feed so people add it once and it stays in sync as events change.
• Your own calendar feed. Subscribe once and every event you're going to — across all your servers — shows up in your calendar and stays in sync. Grab the link from /lfg list or the dashboard, where you can also reset it if it ever leaks.
• Remembers your main. On a comp event, the role you usually pick is pre-selected when you hit Going — so regulars just confirm.
• Signup options with emoji. Put an emoji in a role slot — roles:🛡️ Tank:2, ⚔️ DPS:3 — and it shows as the option's icon (custom and animated server emoji work too).
• Custom color. Add color: a hex like #8a5cff or a name like purple to tint the event's embed.
• Per-event chat spaces. Set /lfgconfig eventspace channel (or thread) and each event gets its own space, removed automatically after it passes — clean coordination without clutter. For network events the host server's space is the hub, and attendees from linked servers join the host to chat. (A channel needs Manage Channels; a thread needs Create Public Threads.)
• Native Discord Events. Turn on /lfgconfig scheduledevents on and each event also appears in your server's Events tab — native notifications, an Interested button, discoverable outside the channel. (Needs Manage Events; re-add the bot to grant it.)
• Events board. /lfg board #channel posts a single self-updating message listing what's coming up (this server's events plus any across your networks) — JustLFG keeps it current so members have one place to glance at the schedule.
• Templates. Save an event as a reusable preset with /lfg template save, then spin it up any time with /lfg template use name:… when:… — great for a recurring-style run you'd rather pick than retype.
• Post channel. /lfgconfig channel pins one channel every event posts into, wherever the command is run — and creates it by name if it doesn't exist yet.
• Recurring events. Premium — set repeat:daily, weekly, or monthly and JustLFG posts the next one on its own. Add every: to space them out — repeat:weekly every:2 is biweekly, repeat:daily every:3 is every three days, repeat:monthly every:2 is every other month. Monthly keeps the same day (nudged in for short months). On any recurring event's ⚙️ Manage panel you can skip the next one or stop repeating. Works for network events too: each occurrence re-broadcasts to the network's current members. The going roster carries forward to each new occurrence — regulars don't re-RSVP every week; they just drop the ones they'll miss.
• Manage from the web. Premium — the dashboard has a full event planner: create, edit, cancel, and manage the roster from your browser, with every option on one screen and a live preview. Changes post to Discord instantly.
• Role on RSVP. Premium — auto-grant a role to people who're Going (for pings/channel access), removed when they drop. The bot needs Manage Roles, and its role must sit above the granted role.
• Cross-server networks. Link servers with a join code so one event — and its RSVPs — spans your whole community. Each server picks where network events post, and every network event shows a 🏠 Hosted in {server} label so people know where to go. A free server can own a network of up to 3 servers; Premium makes it unlimited (joining is always free). To broadcast, use the network picker in the /lfg create builder, or add network:True inline.
• Multiple networks. Premium — a server can belong to several networks and, in the builder, pick exactly which ones each event broadcasts to.
• Shared cross-server chat. On a networked event, tap 💬 Discuss on the post to send a message to everyone on the event — it appears in each connected server's event chat, attributed ("💬 Name · Server: …"). Or right-click any message in an event's chat channel → Apps → Share to the network to push that message out. It only reaches the per-event chat spaces (turn them on with /lfgconfig eventspace), never your general events channel — so partner-server members see a real conversation instead of an empty room.
• Joinable invites. /lfgconfig invites on turns the "Hosted in" link into a real invite so members of partner servers can join the host.
• Channel rules. Use /lfgconfig to limit where events can be created. By default they're allowed anywhere.
• Who can use what. Everyone can create events, RSVP, poll, and list. Admin (Manage Server) is needed for networks, channel config, and upgrading.
